A morning with Wildlife Filmmakers - Featuring Dr.Ullas Karanth
In the film, "Tigers - Fighting Back" three wildlife conservationists, including Dr. Ullas Karanth, travel to different tiger habitats in India, Thailand and the Russian Far East, trying to understand the ways of the tiger in their habitats. They work in partnership with wardens and anti-poaching units to ensure that tigers live in safety and peace. The film travels from the tropical jungles of India to the muggy rainforests of Thailand and finally to the cold barrens of Siberia, following the elusive trail of the tiger.
Dr.Ullas Karanth is a world-renowned field biologist, who is highly respected for his pioneering work on tigers and their conservation. He was the first to use the technique of radio-tracking to study tigers in India. He has also developed a system of estimating tiger numbers in the wild, by photographing them with remote cameras. He is the author of 'The Way of the Tiger', a richly illustrated, authoritative account of the biology and conservation of the big cat. He is a conservation scientist with the Wildlife Conservation Society, New York, and the Director, Centre for Wildlife Studies in Bangalore

A morning with Wildlife Filmmakers - Featuring Alphonse Roy (Jan 2005) .
Second in the series was a show with Alphonse Roy, acclaimed wildlife cinematographer, and two of his cornerstone films. "Bandhavgarh - India's Temple of the Tiger" follows the story of the tigress Bacchi and her new-born cubs, of the Bandavgarh forest. The film follows the rivalry between the grown-up son of Bacchi, the powerful B1 and his grandfather, an old tiger called Charger. The cats share their kingdom with the lone remnant of Bandhavgarh's human past - an octogenarian Hindu priest. He lives alone in the crumbling palaces on the plateau, with only the tigers as companions. The film was shot over a year and has some stunning visuals of tiger behavior.
"The Great Cats of India" is a film about Alphonse Roy's personal quest to track four species of India's big cats - the tiger, the Asiatic lion, the leopard and the snow leopard. Moving from the Himalayas to the Gir Forest and then to the forests of South India, Alphonse takes us on a journey through the nation's great wilderness, chasing these elusive felines and re-living his adventures as he films them.
